Map it out!
A map is a picture of a place, usually drawn from above. Symbols are used on maps to show landmarks, places and features. The key explains what these symbols mean. Use the OS Maps website to find places on the coast. Choose one coastal location and draw a simple map ofthe place with a key, using the online map to help. Include some physical and human features onyour map.
Amazing Habitats.
Find out about animals that inhabit the coastal areas of the world. How do they adapt and survive? Are any of these animals endangered? Why?
Create a word search or quiz using vocabulary and information you have discovered about coastal regions of the UK. I will try and answer the questions!
Find Out!
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution, also called the RNLI, is a volunteer-run charity that carries out sea rescues and save lives. Find out about the types of boats that the RNLI use, where their stations are located, what happens at the stations, and what their volunteers do. Write interesting facts and draw pictures with captions to record your findings.

Poetry Challenge
Write an acrostic poem about coastlines. (You could use Purple Mash to create a template.) Try and create an alliteration poem. Craggy , crumbling, cliffs
Create it.
Using any media (paint, pastels, etc.) to create picture of a coastal scene.
Visit the website BBC Bitesize – Coastlines –erosion and watch the video to learn about the physical process of erosion, which changes the coastline over time. Create an information poster to show what youhave learned about erosion and how it changes the coastline. Include a title, facts and one or more pictureswith captions.
Create a model of a coastline using abox- it could be a shoebox or bigger!

Get out and about
If you can, take a coastal walk. Spot physical and human features on the route, look for coastal erosion and take photographs. Write a diary extract about the day. Include a description of the features you saw, what you smelled and what you heard. Alternatively, visit the website National Trust – Best coastal walks and paths in the UK, and watch the video featuring LizzieDaly. Write a description of the features on her coastal walk.
Design a poster to help people stay safe when visiting the coast. Think about the different types of coastline and the different types of beach and what people would need to be mindful of if they visited those locations. Include a title, bright colours, pictures and important information.
Packaging!
Take a little time to look at some of the packaging you have at home, especially 3d box type packages , can you see how they have been made, maybe you could de-construct some to find out (ask an adult first though we don’t want cereal everywhere !!)
