silver offer
Aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks and the CDI learning outcomes.
My Employment Passport has been created by Richard Lamplough based on his 30 years’ experience supporting young people with additional needs into paid work. Over the years, Richard’s work has been funded by a number of different organisations including local authorities, the DWP and the Careers and Enterprise Company.
The Silver Offer is ideal for organisations who want to test the water in terms of what printed resources are made available as part of the Gold PLUS and Diamond PLUS offers before, perhaps, progressing with the investment these initiatives require.
Who benefits from this?
The Silver Offer is designed for young people at entry level and young people from levels 1 to 3. All facilitators need to do is pick appropriate activities for their young people, based on their abilities and support needs. An Activity Suggestion Sheet is emailed to you and each activity is clearly marked to let you know if it’s best suited for the first group, the second group, or both groups.
How much does it cost?
There are four options: Resources for four young people: £75 Resources for eight young people: £100
Resources for twelve young people: £125
Resources for sixteen young people: £150
A set of fifteen high-quality A3 posters can be purchased for an additional £35.
What’s in the box?
You will receive enough printed materials to carry out at least ten activity sessions lasting between thirty and forty-five minutes. Organisations currently running the Silver Offer tend to spread this out over one academic term, but you could decrease or increase the overall time window to suit you best.
We email you an Activity Suggestion Sheet containing ten activities, some linked to videos that are also emailed to you. These need to played during the sessions. You can, of course, invent your own activities tailored around the skills and support needs of your young people.
Each young person receives:
4 packs of Small Cards (twelve cards in the set).
1 pack of Job Cards (sixty-five cards in the set).
1 pack of Explanation Cards (sixty-five cards in the set).
1 pack of Things in the Community Cards (fifty cards in the set).
1 04 Activity Sheet (referring to our suggested Activity no.4).
6 Response Sheets (used for six of our suggested activities).

The Job Cards (sixty-five in the set)
The Job Cards contain a broad range of jobs. Your young people will be familiar with many of these and have little or no knowledge of a few of them. Some jobs My Employment Passport identify as dream jobs, and some as possible first paid jobs. Many are simply best described as jobs.
On the front of each card, there’s a picture of someone carrying out the job, a skills bar-chart and the type of job it is. Both these correspond with the Skills Cards and the Types of Job Cards shown above. On the back, there’s a quality or skill that’s useful for the job, and two Skillsbuilder logos.

The Explanation Cards (sixty-five in the set)
The Explanation Cards contain a broad range of topics. Most are qualities or skills, but some are neither of these things, but have particular relevance for young people moving from education to employment, for example, Challenging ourselves to try new things, or An explanation of what a career means
On the front of each card is the topic title and the relevant Skillsbuilder logos. On the back is the explanation. Whilst the language is accessible to young people between levels 1 and 3, some entry-level young people will need support with reading the words.

The Things in the Community Cards (fifty in the set)
Community is at the heart of the My Employment Passport approach. Almost certainly, for the members of your group who move on to paid employment future, their jobs will be within their local communities. Whilst they’re at school, college or day services, the more you can encourage them to think about what organisations exist in their communities, the more they can explore what jobs might be available at these. Below are ten of the cards.
The 04 Activity Sheet (four sides of hole-punched A4)
Activity no.4 on your Activity Suggestion Sheet involves watching a video about different types of jobs (the link is emailed to you). Having watched the video your young people need to place (or stick) the two most appropriate types of cards next to each job role on the A4 sheets shown here and enclosed within your box of resources.
