We would like to welcome you to our school. We hope the information in this booklet helps your child know what to expect at Meanwood and answers any questions you might have.

Every morning you will meet your friends on the playground at 8:45, ready for the day!
This is your classroom. There are lots of opportunities to play and learn.
And outside too!
Come prepared for the weather –wellies and waterproofs.
This is where you hang your coat and PE kit.
It will have your name on.
These are our class carpet areas. This is where we come together to learn.
This is the canteen.
Yummy dinner!
These are our toilets.
You can go to the toilet by yourself or ask for help.
We love to read so much, we read everywhere!
What you will need
…
• Grey trousers or skirt
• White polo shirt
• Navy jumper or cardigan, Meanwood logo (optional)
• Black Velcro shoes
PE kit
• Blue or black shorts
• White T-shirt
• Named bag
• Pumps
What you will need on the first day.
Please ensure you have completed the admission form before you start. Please complete teeth brushing consent, Parent Information Booklet, the All About Me booklet and Pupil Premium forms where applicable. Ensure that you have uniform, PE kits and a water bottle.
Arrive at 8:45, at the Reception door. The door will close at 8:51 and late arrivals will have to sign in at the office on Roe Street.
Bring your book bag everyday and water bottle. NO rucksacks, all items must fit in your child’s drawer.
Lunchtime is 11:45 – 12:45. Every child is entitled to a free school meal. Menus are available on the website and paper copies from the main office. Or you can bring a packed lunch. Please talk to your teacher if you have any concerns.
Bring your PE bag with black/navy shorts and white t-shirt.
Everything MUST have your child’s name on. ONLY Velcro shoes – NO LACES.
Communication
Please download the Schoolcomms app from the QR code on the right. School will send news, updates and messages through the app so make sure that you have your notifications switched on. You can also select your child’s school dinner from the app.
If your child is going to attend Early Birds (breakfast club) or Wise Owls (after school club) these can also be booked and paid for on the app. The app will not work until your child has actually started school and should be fully working by the end of the first week in school.
