Friday 27th September 2019 Issue 165 Editor Miss S A Jones

Lomeshaye Life It has been another great week at Lomeshaye Junior School, with lots of wonderful learning taking place. We are just over half way through our first half term of the year and I am feeling confident that this year will be superb for everyone. Read on to find out some more news about what has happened this week. Well done to everyone that attended school over the last week. Our fourth assembly of the school year has once again been very impressive for attendance. This week the whole school attendance figure was 98.5% which is OUTSTANDING news. What is even more impressive is that one class achieved 100% attendance and that class was 4 Willow. Congratulations to everyone that made it to school this week. I hope that these figures continue to remain high throughout the whole school term! Welcome to the World— It is my great pleasure to welcome to the world Miss Briggs new baby girl. Late last week Miss Briggs contacted me to share her new and exciting news that her baby girl, who she has named Fearne Olivia, was born and both mother and baby were doing well. We hope Miss Briggs and her new baby have a great time together over the coming months. Attendance Raffle Winners— this Friday saw our first attendance raffle of the year take place. The attendance raffle takes place at the end of each month, where pupils in upper and lower juniors have the chance to win a prize to see a movie of their choice at Burnley cinema. The two winners for September were both boys who have had great attendance this month and they were Abdul from lower juniors and Raihan for upper juniors. Congratulations boys, we hope that you have a fabulous time at the cinema. Harvest Collection— the month of October is very special in England as this is the month that farmers collect in the food that they have grown over the summer months. This time of year is called the harvest. At Lomeshaye Junior School we like to celebrate this time of year by asking pupils and family members to collect tinned and packaged goods and bring them to school for the School Council to distribute to members of our local community. Please look out for a letter from School Council and start collecting food at home so that you are ready for the grand school Harvest Festival. Mon 30th Sept—Mrs Wilkinson & Year 5 girls go to St Peter’s Primary School Burnley. Wed 2nd Oct—Maths Team competition out of school. Mrs Safdar High School applications drop in session @ 11.15am. Fri 4th Oct—The Book Fair arrives at school.
