Lomeshaye Life This week has been another busy one at Lomeshaye Junior School. Pupils in all classes are getting on very well with their learning and are making some great progress. Have a read on to find out some of the things that have been happening this week. Well done to everyone who made it to school this week. Our attendance figures have improved greatly. This week only two classes did not meet the target. The wonderful news for the whole school is that we HAVE MET OUR TARGET THIS WEEK, with 96.8% of the school attending. Congratulations and lets see if this can get even higher next week. Parents Governor Nominations—Thank you to all of the interest from parents with regard to the Parent Governor vacancies that we have at school at the moment. We have successfully received three nominations and I will be in touch with those parents to let them know of the next stage in the application process on Monday next week. Creative Partner Work—for the last two weeks Nicole has been working with our Year 5 pupils. The classes have been studying the Shakespearean play Macbeth and have really been taken by the blood and gore in the story. All classes are loving their learning and Nicole has been helping them to understand some of the main characters in greater detail which will help them with their writing in the coming weeks. National Story Telling Week—Next week is National Story Telling Week. This year our school will be celebrating the week by working with Nicole, our Creative Practitioner, who is going to be teaching the children an Aboriginal folk tale. Children in all classes will be working with Nicole to retell the story using puppets and also create a piece of artwork that will be displayed in our Art Gallery. Friday 1st Feb—Year 3 are working with friends at Park Primary School in Colne as part of their School Linking Project. Friday 1st Feb—Pupil Parliament Meeting at Nelson Town Hall.
