Lomeshaye Life Welcome back to school everyone, we have had a great start to our new half term. Everyone in school will be starting new learning themes next week—please read through the newsletter that will be sent out from class teachers. This week pupils have had mentoring meetings to discuss their progress and new targets have been set—have a look in your child’s journal to find out what they should be working on this half term Well done to everyone who made it to school this week. Some people are sadly still on holiday which has affected our whole school attendance. We haven’t met the school target this week as only 95.8% of children came to school. I hope we will be celebrating superb attendance again next week, beating our target of 96%. Holiday Club with Mrs Safdar— over the holidays Mrs Safdar ran a club for pupils at school to help keep them busy over the half term break and to teach them some life skills including cooking and keeping healthy. The children who attended had a fantastic time and this club was only possible because Mrs Safdar applied for some special funding for our school. We are hoping to run some more holiday clubs in the future and would like to thank Mrs Safdar and her volunteers for the great work that they did over the holidays. Bonfire and Firework Safety— This week we reminded children of the need to stay safe over the weekend as it is Bonfire Night and many people may be having firework displays. Please make sure you know where your children are at all times over the weekend, so that they do not get into any trouble with fireworks. If you are going to a display have a great time and be safe. Our new Site Supervisor— I would like to introduce a new member of staff to our team, some of you may have met him already as he has been working alongside Mr Nuttall for the last few months. This is Mr Cooper who has now taken on the role of Site Supervisor at Lomeshaye Junior School, he will be helping to keep our school clean, safe and in first class working order. Mr Cooper will also be running our walk to school activity every Thursday. 5th Nov—Eco Challenge week in school—Switch Off Fortnight. Tues 6th Nov—climbing activity afternoon at Pendle Vale College. Fri 9th Nov—Commemoration of the Centenary of World War 1.
