Archdiocese of Liverpool Secondary School Improvement Trust Events, External Courses and Grant Opportunities Urgent Request: Secondary School Profiles Schools have been emailed to request a copy of your Key Stage 4 pupil level file from the 2018 School and College Performance Table Checking site. I believe the file can still be found in the Guidance/Documents tab, at the top of the Key Stage 4 Data Files and Guidance section. The downloaded file will be a csv document with the name KS4pu18.

This file should be sent to Justine Hatter, Wigan Education Business Intelligence Unit, at j.hatter@wigan.gov.uk by the end of Tuesday 11th December using a secure encrypted email.

NPQ: 3 Working Days Left to apply!

The NPQ spring intake will close by midday on the 12th December. This may well be the last time we are able to secure funding for schools not in category 5 or 6 from the DfE and we urge schools to take full advantage of this opportunity. The DfE will guarantee scholarship funding eligible candidates who complete their Newsletter—Edition 1 Winterfor2015 registration by midday on Wednesday 12th December to start April 2019.

To guarantee funding please use RCAOL for the ‘Partner allocation code’ and the ‘Fully funded’ option on the ‘Invoicing information’ page.

English Eduqas Session: Nov 2018 English Language Resit Papers On Monday 25th February 2019, starting at 4.00pm, Holy Cross have arranged for Catherine Oldham from Eduqas to come and deliver a session focused on the November 2018 English Language Resit papers. Effectively a face to face examiners report (you always get more detail verbally than in writing).

Archdiocese colleagues are welcome to join this session (at no cost) and it would most benefit Heads of English or an English representative who can feedback.

FREE Creative Careers event: Saturday 26th January 2019 11am-2pm at Carmel College We have some amazing workshops and speakers coming including Lisa Eldridge and Robin Derrick. We also have a host of successful ex-students including Becky Mars who works for Graduate Fashion week, originally from De La Salle, and Liam Keating, Product Designer at VOLVO group Sweden originally from St Francis Xavier’s College. We have so many inspirational guests that it would be impossible to name them all here but they all have one thing in common – they demonstrate there are many employment opportunities in the creative industries.

The event promises to be exciting and really useful to all ages of students and to show parents and guardians that there are amazing opportunities available for employment in the creative sectors.

Archdiocese of Liverpool Secondary School Improvement Trust Events, External Courses and Grant Opportunities Holy Rosary Teaching School Alliance: CUREE Research Project Holy Rosary Teaching School Alliance are running another research project this year with CUREE. As last year, Alliance members are allocated places first but if we have any capacity we would like to offer places to schools in the Archdiocese. Further details are attached.

Alliance members have a deadline of 14th December 2018 to take up places, if these are not all filled we will then contact schools who have expressed an interest to offer places on a first come first served basis.

Careers Leadership Programme - Last opportunity to take advantage of this offer!

Ambition’s new Careers LeadershipNewsletter—Edition Programme focuses on developing the leadership skills of careers leader. Starting 1 Winter 2015 in January 2019, the six-month programme provides detailed knowledge on how to develop a careers strategy that demonstrates excellence against all 8 of the Gatsby benchmarks, and build strategic external partnerships.

There is no charge for this programme and schools receive a £1000 bursary upon completion of the programme. All training takes place outside school hours.

During your career leader’s time on the programme, they will access: ·

A two-hour introductory webinar

·

Four Saturday conferences in Birmingham (26 January, 9th March, 18th May, 6th July).

·

Eight webinars (two mandatory, the rest optional) on careers best practice (two hours each)

· Three experiential visits- participants visit a school, employer, and either a further education college or a university · Peer Learning Groups: Participants will be placed in groups with peers who meet three times over the course of the programme to sharing best practice

Participants complete self-study during the programme including the following activities: ·

Careers strategy

Reflection

·

Knowledge bank

·

There is no assessment on this programme

Registration deadline: Friday 21st December but places are limited and on a first come, first served basis.

Events Management Training (Eduqas Level 1/2) Holy Family Catholic High School will host an Eduqas Events Management Training session 1.00pm-2.00pm on 11th January 2019. This will be an informal meeting so that we can ask the lead moderator about the structure of the course, examinations, and if he can share any exemplar material.

The Level 1/2 Award in Event Operations has been designed to support learners in schools and colleges who want to learn about this vocational sector and the potential it can offer them for their careers or further study. It is most suitable as a foundation for further study. This further study would provide learners with the opportunity to develop a range of specialist and general skills that would support their progression to employment.

Employment in events can range from administration, crowd control, event sales, event branding, exhibition organisation and communications.

Behaviour Conference We have negotiated significantly reduced rates to a Behaviour Conference on 7th February at Liverpool Football Club, Anfield stadium. This event should cost £140 per delegate, but Trust schools can access this for just £70pp.

The conference key note speaker is an amazing behaviour specialist called Paul Dix, you may have read his book “When the Adults change, everything changes”. There is also a final session with Dame Kathryn August who was the principal who took a failing and significantly challenging academy in Moss Side to outstanding in 4 years, she is now a member of the Ofsted Board.
