High Achieving Pupils (HAPs) Working Group Information

Hope Academy have created a HAPs Working Group page on their website to help schools who are researching ideas to support their HAPS cohorts. You will have access to case studies from a range of schools who have created video/Loom presentations showcasing successful strategies which have had impact with higher ability students. A forum for secondary leaders to share their experiences, challenges and successes with fellow peers. Key topics include: leading through COVID, remote learning, catch up and NTP, and pupil and staff wellbeing Delivering Flexible and Effective Intervention and tuition programmes to suit all schools and trusts.

All areas of implementing catch up will be discussed addressed and market experience shared from Teaching Personnel with examples from two school leaders on how they are using the Catch Up Premium and the impact so far The impact of COVID-19 on school staff since March has been overwhelming and the workload demands are not easing up. We will be exploring how to support and promote staff wellbeing within schools, academies and MATs during these unprecedented times; sharing successes from other schools and MATs, and new ideas from The Art Project on how to use the arts as a tool for positive mental health.

A forum for secondary leaders to share their experiences, challenges and successes with fellow peers. Key topics include TBC The impact of COVID-19, school closures and disrupted learning has had an overwhelming impact on pupil wellbeing and mental health. We will be discussing the impact and tools to support children through this challenging period in time, with special guests from Thrive to discuss use of the Thrive Approach to support and promote positive mental health and resilience A forum for SEN leaders to share their experiences, challenges and successes with fellow peers. The Leading improvement programme for middle leaders has been designed to inspire, challenge and support individual leaders and managers who are actively seeking to transform their personal effectiveness and professional impact.

This programme is ideal for developing leadership skills for new Heads of department and aspiring/current Newsletter—Edition 1 Winter 2015 middle leaders.

The key features of this programme are aimed at supporting learning through individual leadership skill development and through work-based learning.

The programme is delivered over 3 sessions and requires participants to attend face-to-face sessions, complete a 360˚diagnostic work based intersessional tasks and a tutorial session. In the current climate, this will be delivered virtually. Learning is further supported by line manager coaching/mentoring sessions and small-scale research of leadership development. The cost for colleagues following this programme will be £500 based on a minimum of 10 participants.

CAMHS Children’s Mental Health Week Celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week, from 1-5 February, the Liverpool Whole School Approach CAMHS Partnership and The Liverpool Learning Partnership will be hosting a series of live-streamed events.

The free events are aimed at children, families and school staff.

What’s happening?

Author-led sessions from Karl Nova, Dom Conlon and Marie Basting delivered as part of the Liverpool Learning Partnership Reading Festival A session for parents/carers looking at how to support their own wellbeing whilst supporting their child.

Daily Xpress sessions delivered by Merseyside Youth Association’s RAISE Mental Health Promotion Team.

Each session will feature a wellbeing theme, a creative activity and a daily challenge.

A wellbeing session for school-staff with a focus on creativity and expression.

Mixed Mondays – looking at the different feelings and emotions that we experience Talk Tuesdays – thinking about words to express feelings and build resilience What number Wednesday? Looking at expressing how we feel on a scale of 1-10 Tame it Thursday – thinking about how feels make us behave and how we can tame big feelings Feel good Friday – thinking about the things that make us feel good
