NPQ Spring 2021: Funding Update When the DfE scholarship funding position becomes clear, we will contact you if we need to discuss alternate funding options. Therefore, please be aware that the information that we are receiving is that the programmes are unlikely to be funded by the DfE as they use their funding to support Covid initiatives. Colleagues who have already started programmes are unaffected by this decision.

Colleagues can submit their application by the 15th January to secure their place, remembering the following: Applicants completing their programme application form will be asked to identify a delivery partner from a drop down list, and then to enter that partner’s ‘partner allocation code’.

Virtual Tea and Biscuits Session with Dr Antony Edkins 19th November 2020 (Session for Maths Leads and Line Managers) A virtual ‘tea and biscuits’ session with Dr Antony Edkins will take place 3.00pm until 4.30pm on Thursday 19th November via Zoom.

This session will be of particular interest to Mathematics leaders and Mathematics line managers. The session will include a focus on ‘What are you teaching, and why ?’ and ’Why are you teaching in that order?’.

Antony will explore short maths enrichment tasks that demonstrate progression and intelligence gained to date this term regarding OFSTED visits and OFSTED training.

AQA Fundamental Skills Sessions (Waiting list information) Please note that the Fundamental Skills sessions for all subjects may appear to be fully booked, but those wishing to attend should use the ‘waiting list’ option as AQA have now removed the numbers cap and all colleagues registered will be able to access the course. The Leading improvement programme for middle leaders has been designed to inspire, challenge and support individual leaders and managers who are actively seeking to transform their personal effectiveness and professional impact.

This programme is ideal for developing leadership skills1 for new 2015 Heads of department and aspiring/current Newsletter—Edition Winter middle leaders.

The key features of this programme are aimed at supporting learning through individual leadership skill development and through work-based learning.

The programme is delivered over 3 sessions and requires participants to attend face-to-face sessions, complete a 360˚diagnostic work based intersessional tasks and a tutorial session. In the current climate, this will be delivered virtually. Learning is further supported by line manager coaching/mentoring sessions and small-scale research of leadership development. The cost for colleagues following this programme will be £500 based on a minimum of 10 participants.

High Achieving Pupils (HAPs) Working Group Information Hope Academy have created a HAPs Working Group page on their website to help schools who are researching ideas to support their HAPS cohorts. You will have access to case studies from a range of schools who have created video/Loom presentations showcasing successful strategies which have had impact with higher ability students. Physics Partners Programme 2020/21 This programme is open to all schools who wish to have a science teacher(s) who will attend six sessions through the academic year. It is aimed at colleagues whose science specialism isn’t physics and the focus will be on teaching practical GCSE. Each session will take place virtually 3.30pm-4.30pm.

Registering for Online Zoom Sessions As all our autumn term meetings have moved to virtual Zoom sessions, it is particularly important that all colleagues register to attend or send apologies using our online booking forms. This will ensure that colleagues receive the correct Zoom link to join each session and will allow us to quickly identify them when they join using their school's generic Zoom account .

If they do not register, then the meeting may be delayed as we will need to identify each colleague to accurately record the minutes and in the case of HoD meetings, to allocate them to the correct exam board ‘break out’ session.
