Steam School: Offer for ALSSIT Schools Steam School is an award winning virtual club for future inventors, Newsletter—Edition 1 Winter 2015 engineers entrepreneurs and digital creators. They host 6 missions every year exploring #STEAM4GOOD projects and futuristic technology.

Learners can journey through each mission by participating in weekly broadcasts with STEAM experts and choose from 18 different challenges to complete as scientists, engineers, artists, digital makers and entrepreneurs.

Steam School is offering ALSSIT schools access to their programme for the discounted price is £995+VAT per school. Liverpool schools who sign up before the end of this month can claim a £500 rebate from School Improvement Liverpool.

This discounted price of £995+VAT is available to schools who sign up before the end of March 2020.

Student Media Competition 25th June 2020 Further to this being featured in our spring newsletter, we can now confirm that this event will take place again at Hope University in Liverpool.

This form will close on 3rd April and colleagues will be contacted for further information regarding their entries after the Easter holidays.

Newsletter—Edition 1 Winter 2015

Public Speaking Competitions 2020 Following last year’s successful events, we will again be holding Public Speaking Competitions for all clusters.

Each cluster contest is open to 11–14 year old students (Year 7, 8 and 9 only). The overall aim of the contest is to foster presentation and communication skills in young students, as all walks of life, especially the business world, are increasingly reliant on these abilities.

There is a trophy for the winning school to retain for one year and certificates for all those taking part.

We do hope you can put forward a candidate/s (maximum of 2), boys or girls, as representative/s of your school. We are sure all participating students will have much to gain and nothing to lose in taking part in a friendly and stimulating atmosphere.

This year’s topics are: • • • • •

Local communities should have more control over how they are policed.

Schools should do more to support young people's mental health.

The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. (Steve Biko) The whole economy needs to be realigned around the goal of preventing climate change.
