Pearson’s ‘My Twist on a Tale’ Writing Competition Winners In 2019, Pearson turned the page on traditional tales with a new international writing competition: My Twist on a Tale. It was launched on International Literacy Day 2019 to encourage four to 16-yearolds to tear up the rule book and put their own 21st Century take on classic fairy tales, fables and regional folk stories. Over 3,000 students from across the UK entered the competition, with the hope of winning book vouchers for their school and their winning story being entered into a book of winning stories. We had three winners, Hope Academy and St Bede’s, from a large entry of schools across the Archdiocese. Huge congratulations to the students, and also to the staff for organising the entries within your school. We certainly acknowledge the efforts of students and staff for participating in this competition and as a result gaining success for the individuals concerned and to their schools. The winning entries are: 'Melted' by Robbie Smith (Hope Academy) 'Rapunzel With A Twist' by Maddie Parr (Hope Academy) ‘Twisted Story’ by Finn Glover (St Bede's Catholic High School)
