Parents’ Bulletin - 19th May 2023
Year 6 SATs

We are extremely proud of the pupils’ efforts, organisation and conduct throughout SATs week. They were absolutely brilliant and rose to the challenge of Y6 SATs. A huge well done to our Year 6 pupils!
PSHE
As we move into the last half term of this academic year, all year groups will be learning about Relationships, Sex and Health Education. The content taught to children in PSHE is age appropriate. We want all children to grow up healthy, happy, safe, and able to manage the challenges and opportunities of modern Britain. Teaching children Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) is a key part of this process. These subjects are designed to equip children with knowledge to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships as well as preparing them for a successful adult life.
Should you have any questions about the teaching of this subject, please contact Mrs Johnson via djohnson@themast.co.uk or visit the school website where more information is shared.
Lost Property
Our lost property cupboard is getting full again. PLEASE, put your child’s name on all their belongings. The office staff can then reunite your child with their belongings and save you money by not having to replace ‘lost’ items! We continue to remind pupils via the Daily Bulletin to come and check the lost property.

Sporting Updates Inclusion Event
14 of our Young Sports Leaders worked with Linda Stacey from 'School Games' Partnership all morning to put together an incredible Inclusion Festival for 25 of our Year 6 and 7s. This was a great experience for our young leaders which will give them the confidence to run events like this in the future and develop their love for PE and living a healthy lifestyle. There were lots of smiling faces in the afternoon from all who participated.
Play Your Way to Wimbledon
We had 18 girls taking part in the 'Play your way to Wimbledon' competition on Tuesday 16th May from KMS and SMS. The level of tennis varied from beginners to seasoned tennis players. The semi-final and final matches were truly amazing to watch, especially the final with EW in Year 7 and AM in Year 6. Two very talented young tennis players of the future. The final was won by AM 3 games to 2. Congratulations to her and good luck in the next round!

'Play your way to Wimbledon 2023' On Tuesday 16th May, we had 24 boys from KMS and SMS playing tennis at Gregory Fields Tennis Club in Highburton in a knockout tournament. The quality of tennis on show was incredible, especially as we progressed to the semi-final and final. Semi-finalists were BO from Scissett and WG, JF and OW from Kirkburton Middle School. JF and OW progressed to the final with JF winning overall. A massive congratulations to him and good luck as he progresses to the next round of the competition.

PE Lessons
Following May half term we will be doing Athletics and Tennis in our PE lessons. Trainers must be worn for both activities. We will also be launching a new PE top for the next academic year. This will be compulsory for the new Year 6 students but is optional for the current year 6 and 7 students moving into year 7 and 8. If you are planning on buying a new PE top, please make sure you buy the new black and red version, this will be stocked in all retailers very soon. House coloured tops will be accepted next year so you do not have to buy the new one.
Extra-Curricular Timetable in PE
