Information about the Remote Learning Offer

Remote Learning Information for Parents This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education if local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.

The Remote Curriculum: What is taught to pupils at home? A pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching.

What should my child expect from immediate remote education in the first day or two of pupils being sent home?   

Teachers have a pack of activities ready prepared in case the class or bubble has to selfisolate with little or no notice. If the pupils are already in school when the class/bubble goes into isolation the packs will be sent home with the pupils. If the pupils are not in school, depending on the time of day school receives the information regarding staff and pupil’s test results, the work packs will be delivered to pupil’s home – either put trough the letter box or left on the doorstep to ensure social distancing.

Following the first few days of remote education, will my child be taught broadly the same curriculum as they would if they were in school? 

 

We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do at home. We understand that continuity and consistency will help pupils in structured classes to access the home learning if it is as familiar as possible. However, we have made adaptations due to the nature of delivering remote learning to pupils in structured classes. It is not always possible to have the resources at home that we have in school. Pupils in independent classes will continue to follow the scheme of work once the remote learning starts The timetable will be the biggest change for pupils learning remotely. Teachers will deliver one online teaching session per day, live and will make other video resources available to support the delivery of elements of the curriculum – video stories, etc.
