Arrival at School

Miss Brakewell posted earlier this week about not arriving at school before 8:45am and making sure your children are not playing on neighbour’s driveways. We try hard to maintain good relationships with our neighbours so it is important that all pupils show respect by waiting sensibly on the drive with a parent before the gate opens at 8:50am. Please discourage your child from sitting on the wall of the house next to school; running around and wandering onto people’s driveways I have also asked the older children who are there without parents, to wait higher up on the drive rather than on the edge of the road Can I also ask parents not to park outside neighbour’s houses on Mill Street or Smithy Lane where possible.

Holidays in Term-Time

I have had an increased number of requests for term-time holidays in the past couple of weeks. Please remember that holidays will be unauthorised absences and anything over 4.5 days will trigger a warning letter and/or a penalty notice from Lancashire County Council

Pupils must be in school for key assessment periods: Year 6 13th -16th May (SATS); Year 1 week beginning 6th June (phonics screener) and all pupils week beginning 24th June (end of year assessments).

Event

Does your child like Build-A-Bear?

One of our Year 6 parents is delivering a workshop later in the half-term where pupils get to make their own bear. (Stuff your Furry Friend).

There is a fabulous range of colours and sizes available plus some accessories Please ask in the office for more information. Monies raised will go towards the end of Year 6 events.

Disco

Apologies – I put out the wrong date for this event. The disco will be on Friday 18th May from 3:30-6pm. Bookings will be open on Parent Pay from Monday. £5 per child to include hot dog (or equivalent) and drink from 3:30-4pm. Pupils will be able to bring clothes to change into No after-school club on this day.

Spring Fair

We really hope you can join us in school tomorrow afternoon for our Spring Fair between 2-4pm. As well as serving afternoon tea, we have the following activities:

Chocolate Tombola

· Hook a Bag

· Win a Bottle

· Meet and Greet with Jemima Puddleduck

· Woodland themed craft activities

· Games

· Face Painting

There are plenty of prizes to be won! We will also be drawing the Grand Raffle at 3:45pm. Due to the roof work, we can only provide parking for anyone who has limited mobility on site. Can we also ask that parents try to avoid parking outside our neighbours’ houses on Mill Street and Smithy Lane as the residents need access to their properties

Please bring any cake entries in before judging at 12:30pm.
