1 To continue to focus on reading across the school to develop a love of reading and develop children’s stamina to read.

The Reading Champions challenge has been further developed and used to encourage children to read. There has been more emphasis on guided reading in KS2 and a structured timetable for this to take place each day. KS 1 reading 71% KS 2 reading 82% (above national 73%) with GDS 37% classes all participated in story telling week Increased focus on class novel work Children can visit the school library- choose a book and read at home for one week. Volunteers run the library The library houses the reading books all booked banded and organised so that they can be easily accessed. Our school was successful in the Tesco grant and with contributions from the PTFA the new school library has been purchased and installed
Action monitor reading attainment for year 2 children to ensure reading is above national standard and increase number of GDS
