English: We will begin the half term exploring a variety of Norse myths through our reading lessons. We will be focusing on narrative writing and using one of the myths we have explore to write an alternative ending. We will then look at formal letter writing in preparation for writing a letter to our Year 4 teacher. Our SPAG focus will be recapping writing dialogue and using the correct punctuation as well as adverbials of time and place. We will also continue to develop our comprehension skills through our reading lessons. Science: In our Science lessons , we will be looking at health and movement. We will explore how humans and some other animals have skeletons and muscles to help their bodies move and investigate how our bones grow with age.

Year 3

The Vikings

PE: Working each week with WLSP, the children will learn about invasion games. Teachers will be teaching striking and fielding activities.

Geography: This area of the curriculum has been covered in previous terms this year.

Maths:

Time: We will tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes on an analogue clock, understand time on a digital clock and explore duration of time. We will also focus on the number of days in each month and how many days and months there are in a year.

Shape: We will focus on angles and angles in shapes as well as looking at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes. Statistics: We will explore how data can be represented in different ways including pictograms and bar charts.

Music: Reflect and rewind - In this

final half term, we will be reflecting on an excellent year of learning in Year 3 and recapping key terms taught, singing our favourite songs from this year and composing music for a summer adventure. We will also develop our keyboard skills.

The Vikings

RE: In R.E we will be looking at the question, 'What does it mean to be a Christian in Britain today?' This includes ways in which Christians show their faith through hymns and modern worship songs. We will be looking at reasons why it is a good thing or a hard things to be a Christian in our current society.

PSHE:

We will look at fire safety and also consider distractions for adults when driving.

Spanish: La fruta / Fruits:

• Name, recognise and remember up to 10 fruits in Spanish.

• Attempt to spell some of these nouns with their correct article/determiner.

• Ask somebody in Spanish if they like a particular fruit.

• Say what fruits we like and dislike in Spanish.

Art: This area of the curriculum has been covered in previous terms.

History: In History, we will be learning about the Vikings, looking at longships, artefacts, the people and notable kings such as Alfred the Great, King Canute and William the Conqueror.

Computing: We will be using our computing sessions to develop our times tables skills through TT Rockstars.

Design Technology: The children will be looking at seasonal foods in our DT unit this term. We will look at where our food comes from, and design and make a fruit skewer.
