Maths: This half term we will learn about… Multiplication and Division - Multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100 - Formal written methods for multiplying and dividing 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers Length and Perimeter - Equivalent lengths (km and m) - Perimeters of rectangles, rectilinear shapes and polygons We will continue to revise previous times tables through our TT Rockstars sessions.
English: Our quality text will be ‘The Great Kapok Tree’. We will be using our theme to create Haiku poems and writing a persuasive text around the issues of deforestation. We will continue to look at the grammatical features used for writing in Year 4 such as relative clauses and subordinate clauses.
Geography: We will be learning about the world’s climate zones and biomes and comparing regions of North and South America. We will then focus on the issues of deforestation.
Year 4 Spring Half-term 1: ‘Going, Going, Gone’ History: This area of the curriculum has been covered in Autumn 1 and 2 and will be covered in Summer 1.
Science: Life Processes We will identify the seven life processes and group and classify living things according to their features. We will be taking part in an invertebrate hunt and studying the local habitat and environmental changes. PE: In PE we will be developing our skills in dance and outdoor adventurous activities. We will also be starting swimming later this half term.
