READING & HOMEWORK

ONE OF OUR KEY PRIORITIES IS DEVELOPING READING.

WE STRONGLY BELIEVE READING UNDERPINS OUR CHILDRENS’ SUCCESSES

ACROSS THE CURRICULUM.

REQUIREMENT OF ALL CHILDREN TO READ AT LEAST THREE TIMES PER WEEK.

EACH CHILD WILL BE ISSUED WITH A READING RECORD FOR PARENTS TO RECORD THEIR CHILD’S READING EACH WEEK. THIS WILL BE CHECKED IN SCHOOL.

HOMEWORK IS SET WEEKLY AND WILL BE EITHER MATHS, ENGLISH OR THEME BASED.

YEAR 4 MULTIPLICATION CHECK

WILL BE DONE WITHIN A 2 WEEK PERIOD FROM JUNE 3RD .

TIMES TABLE KNOWLEDGE IS ESSENTIAL AS A BUILDING BLOCK FOR ALL MATHS SKILLS. WE EXPECT THE CHILDREN TO KNOW ALL THEIR TIMES TABLES OFF BY HEART, UP TO 12X12. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE CHILDREN TAKE TIME TO LEARN THESE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. THE CHILDREN WILL COMPLETE TIMES TABLES TESTS EACH WEEK, WORKING ON A SPECIFIC TABLE UNTIL THEY KNOW IT THOROUGHLY AND THEN MOVING ONTO THE NEXT TABLE.

TO ENCOURAGE THE CHILDREN TO CONTINUE TO ENGAGE WITH LEARNING THEIR MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION FACTS, WE WOULD LIKE THE CHILDREN TO ACCESS TT ROCKSTARS REGULARLY THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. CHILDREN WILL BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTISE THEIR TABLES ON TT ROCKERS TWICE A WEEK IN SCHOOL AND LOG IN DETAILS WILL BE GIVEN IN THE FRONT OF READING DIARIES, SO THE CHILDREN CAN ACCESS THIS FROM HOME.
