Personal, Social & Emotional Development: This half term we will place a large focus on transition and supporting our older children through discussions, visits and stories. We will talk about feelings and emotions around periods of change. We will continue to focus on resolving conflicts with peers and gaining confidence through friendships.
Physical Development: Children will continue to practise their fine motor skills, focussing on scissor skills and pencil control with a focus on developing a comfortable grip. We will spend time outdoors with lots of opportunities to support the children in developing gross motor skills. West Lancashire Coaches take PE twice a week.
Literacy: We will enjoy sharing a range of books including Supertato and The Colour Monster starts school. In phonics some children will continue to recognise and write initial sounds. We will play games to focus on hearing these sounds in words and focus on orally blending words as well as exposing children to rhyme. We will continue to place a greater emphasis on name writing.
Maths: Continuing with matching a set of objects to their numeral with lots of exposure to counting forwards and backwards. Children will be considering what comes before an after a number and looking at how numbers can be made. They will also revisit 2D shape and repeating patterns.
