Personal, Social & Emotional Development:

To play with one or more other children, extending and elaborating play ideas. To support children to find solutions to conflicts and rivalries and identify their feelings.
Physical Development: To enjoy the good weather to develop gross motor skills through spending time outdoors. PE with large equipment to develop core strength and regular sessions of movement scarves, Dough Disco and Squiggle whilst you wiggle. Children will be encouraged to be independent as they put coats and waterproof suits on and off.
Maths: To continue to explore the numbers up to 10, matching a set of objects to the written numeral and counting forwards and backwards as well as subitising to 3. Using positional language, exploring one more than and shapes.
Understanding the world:-To look at life cycles and develop and understanding of seasonal changes. Children will plant and care for the plants in our outdoor area and explore large sand and water play.

Literacy: To enjoy sharing multiple books daily, and to explore quality texts including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, What the Ladybird Heard and Oliver’s Vegetables. To develop the children’s phonological awareness, so that they can spot and suggest rhymes, count or clap syllables in words and begin to recognise words with the same initial sound. Some children will be introduced to the RWI phonic scheme and begin writing some letters correctly.
Nursery Summer 1: Growing
Communication & Language: Children to talk with adults and friends, one to one and in small groups developing a wider range of vocabulary and their tenses and plurals. Encouraging them to listen to longer stories and show an understanding of what has happened and talk about the story.
Expressive Arts: To explore story telling in our small world areas. Children will be encouraged to add more detail when drawing faces and bodies. Through different methods of story telling, the children will begin to create their own narratives.
RE: To use opportunities such as charity days to discuss similarities and differences between countries and cultures. To understand the importance of respect and care for all living things.
