Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Supporting the children in developing appropriate ways of being assertive. Children to work on talking to each other to resolve conflicts, with the support of an adult. Children to continue to talk about their feelings.
Maths: Continuing with matching a set of objects to their written numeral. Lots of exposure to counting forwards and backwards. Use positional language, e.g next to, behind, above. Children will look at directions and describe a familiar route.
Physical Development: Making the most of good weather to develop gross motor skills through moving and playing outdoors. Children to be encouraged to being increasingly independent as they get dressed and undressed. West Lancashire Coaches take PE twice a week.
Literacy: We will enjoy sharing many books including Jack and the Beanstalk. We will be developing the children’s phonological awareness through looking at rhyme, syllables and initial sounds. Children will be supporting in using print and letter knowledge in their writing.
Nursery Summer 1: Growing Communication & Language: Children to talk with adults and friends, one to one and in small groups. Children to be encouraged to develop their tenses and plurals, and where possible use longer sentences. Children to listen to longer stories and work on remembering the story plots.
Understanding the world: We will continue looking at life cycles and developing their understanding of seasonal changes. Children will be planting and caring for plants in our outside environment. Expressive Arts: Small world and role play areas are available at all times. Drama and role play will be enhanced through the stage area in Nursery. Children will look at adding more detail when drawing faces and bodies. Through helicopter stories, the children will begin to invent their own narratives. RE: Use opportunities, such as charity days, to discuss similarities and differences between countries and/or cultures.
