As we come to the end of April it is worth celebrating each child in school. They are all unique and have their own story to tell but that’s what makes the Churchtown family so diverse and special. We are very proud of all the children as we know you are too.
Celebrating in praise assembly today we had our weekly stars along with children who had out of school achievements to celebrate. Children stand up and talk in front of the hall about their achievements with pride. Thank you to all the children who took part in the Easter Smarties challenge, collecting money for the PTA. Three prizes were awarded to children who took part, the names of the winners can be found further down in the newsletter.
Next Friday, 5th May we will be celebrating the Kings Coronation. Children can wear their own clothes on this day. Again, information can be found further down in the newsletter about these exciting plans. Finally, I hope you enjoy the extended weekend and let’s hope we have some sunshine for the start of May. Have a good weekend - Mrs Payne!

Coronation Celebration – Friday 5th May 2023

To mark the coronation of King Charles III, we will be holding a ‘Coronation Celebration Day’ on Friday 5th May.

Children are invited to attend school on Friday 5th of May wearing red, white and blue or in 'Coronation Party' clothes. We have chosen this clothing so that parents/carers do not have to purchase or plan anything different to the clothes you already have at home. We are not asking for any contribution towards this mufti day.

Throughout the day, children will also participate in a range of learning activities linked to the Coronation and have the opportunity to enjoy a ‘King’s Banquet’ during lunchtime.
The menu for the ‘King’s Banquet’ can be found below:
A selection of sandwiches – choice of Cheese/Ham/Tuna
Crisps
Sausages
Quiche or Pizza
Hard-boiled Egg
Carrot & Cucumber
Sweet Coronation Muffins for pudding
You can opt for your child to enjoy school dinners on specific days during the week, depending on what their firm favourites are.
School meals cost £2.35 per day, payable in advance (total of £11.75 per week). We are a cashless school so all parents/carers can pay for all school means online via our ParentPay website.
Please contact the school office if you require further support with this (either by calling 01704 508500 or via email office@churchtown.org.uk).
We look forward to marking this historic occasion!

Mrs Rushton started working at Churchtown Primary School in March 1994 as a Nursery Nurse/Teaching Assistant. For the vast majority of Mrs Rushton’s time she was based in Early Years either working with Reception or Nursery classes but she has also worked in the main building with other year groups. Mrs Rushton will be remembered by lots of children for her knitting skills as each year she used to knit the children a Christmas stocking and at the end of the academic year a knitted teddy to take on their journey through primary school. Mrs Rushton loved working with the younger children and also supported the Chipmunks in school – children affected by bereavement or young carers. We wish Mrs Rushton a Happy Retirement and thank her for her many years of work at Churchtown Primary School

Mrs Halliwell started working at Churchtown Primary School in September 2004 as a Midday Supervisor. Mrs Halliwell supported the lunchtime period at school, helping children in the dining halls and supporting and supervising them on the school playground. Mrs Halliwell worked alongside a large team of Midday Supervisors and built excellent relationships with all ages of children. We are planning a tea party in the next few weeks to thank her for her many years of work at Churchtown and wish her well on her retirement.
