The children have enjoyed sharing their news from the Coronation weekend, many of which had been to the wonderful event that took place in Churchtown Village. It was a great, community day, which was well attended and showed our delightful village off to its full potential. There is another community event coming up on Sunday 18th June at Botanic Gardens, ‘Make a change for Botanic’ from 10am-6pm. The PTA are having a stall, which they are currently planning games for. When we know our location, we will let you know via the newsletter and social media so you can pay us a visit on the day. A BIG congratulations to year 6 this week for sitting their SATS tests. They have shown great maturity, resilience and determination and their class teachers are very proud of them. Teachers have prepared them well and the children have responded to their expectations. Well done to all! You have your year 6 visit to look forward to next week, which is well deserved following this week’s hard work. Have a good weekend, Mrs Payne.
SKILLS FOR LIFE
This half term, the value that Churchtown is developing is Skills for Life. At the end of the half term, value champions will be nominated for each class.

ATTENDANCE
The statistics below show what impact a child’s attendance can have on their learning. Attendance during one school year
equals this number of days absent

which is approximately this many weeks absent
which means this number of lessons missed
95% 9 days 2 weeks 50 lessons
90% 19 days 4 weeks 100 lessons
85% 29 days 6 weeks 150 lessons
80% 38 days 8 weeks 200 lessons
Attendance is monitored weekly and if your child’s attendance falls below 90%, they are classed as a persistent absentee and Mrs Welsh will notify you.
BUDDY ASSEMBLY GROUPS
Each week in the ‘Friday Praise Assembly’ we have been checking the totals of the Buddy assembly groups. Classes and children gain points for super behaviour.

‘Did you know’ there is a “No Mow May” campaign to urge people not to mow their lawns for a month to help allow bees and other early pollinators to succeed. However, overgrown grass, fields of dandelions and untamed lawns can be viewed as an eyesore.
Almost 90% of wild plants and 75% of crops depend on animal pollination. One out of every three mouthfuls of our food depend on pollinators such as bees.
Year 2 and Year 6 Children Only

Please can we request that all Year 2 and Year 6 children bring their Children’s University Passports into school for the final credit count prior to the Graduations taking place – thank you!

We would like to thank every family who have been so generous and donated books to school. The books you have donated are being used within our classrooms and on our reading shelves for the children to enjoy. Thank you!

Our School Eco Club Champions would like to share a ‘did you know’ with you ……………….
