This week has seen the children spend time in their new classes with their new teachers. Miss Wynne and Mrs Davies came to visit their new classes for the day. They are very much looking forward to starting with us in September. Mrs Watkinson is delighted to return her role as a class teacher, drawing on her many years of experience in this role.

Our new reception classes have continued with their new to reception sessions with the final sessions taking place next week. It has been lovely to meet all our new pupils and families.

Year 6 have their show at The Atkinson this evening and we are all looking forward to celebrating all their hard work –“break a leg” to all the cast.

Next week brings the school year to a close. We have enjoyed so much this academic year and I’m sure that we’re looking forward to a well-earned rest, ready to start the new school year in September.

A final reminder that school closes on Friday 14th July at 2pm. Mr Swindells.

GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

This half term, the value that Churchtown is developing is Growth & Development. At the end of the half term, value champions will be nominated for each class.

ATTENDANCE

The statistics below show what impact a child’s attendance can have on their learning. Attendance during one school year

equals this number of days absent

which is approximately this many weeks absent

which means this number of lessons missed

95% 9 days 2 weeks 50 lessons

90% 19 days 4 weeks 100 lessons

85% 29 days 6 weeks 150 lessons

80% 38 days 8 weeks 200 lessons

Attendance is monitored weekly and if your child’s attendance falls below 90%, they are classed as a persistent absentee and Mrs Welsh will notify you.

BUDDY ASSEMBLY GROUPS

Each week in the ‘Friday Praise Assembly’ we have been checking the totals of the Buddy assembly groups. Classes and children gain points for super behaviour.

The winner of our Buddy Assembly Groups will be announced in assembly next Wednesday.
