Another busy week at Churchtown with so much taking place. Sports days have taken place for nearly all year groups, the children have performed incredibly well showing their sporting prowess as well as encouragement, effort and perseverance. We are really proud of how well they performed and their attitude towards all the events. We are also pleased that so many of you were able to join us for a special part of your child’s school life.

Rehearsals are in full swing for the Year 6 and Year 3 performances which are sounding great. We are really looking forward to seeing the results of a lot of hard work.

The book fair has been well supported and we still have a few books left to purchase This is a great way to further support reading at home but also provide much needed funds to support school in enhancing our libraries. Plans for classes and teachers are close to being finalised and we hope to communicate this with you next week. Transition opportunities have been arranged to support all children in a smooth transition to their next year group.

Have a great weekend.

SCHOOL UNIFORM DONATIONS

SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL VACANCY

Sefton Borough Council's excellent School Crossing Service is currently looking to recruit people to become School Crossing Patrols. We are appealing to Schools, Parents and Grandparents of our children that have a few hours to spare each week.

We offer £10.80 per hour plus travelling expenses where applicable. You would also be entitled to holiday pay plus a retainer fee when the Schools are closed. There is no upper age limit.

If you, or anyone you know would be interested in becoming a Patrol please telephone the School Crossing Office on 0151 288 6153 in the first instance.

As our Year 6 children will shortly be moving on to their High Schools we would greatly welcome any donations of uniform into school that is no longer needed

Your support with this request will be greatly received.

LUNCH DEBTS

Polite request for those families who have lunch debts on ParentPay –Can you please ensure that these debts are cleared prior to the end of term. Thank you in advance of your assistance.

PARKING AROUND SCHOOL & DROP OFF/COLLECTION OF CHILDREN

Churchtown Primary School is situated on residential roads and we respectfully ask parents to park legally and with due consideration for our neighbours and others. It is never acceptable to think that blocking someone’s driveway is OK for a short period of time.

In addition, we are currently receiving a high number of complaints from other parents who are dropping off/collecting their child/ren. Parents are often double parking which results in cars not being able to pass, thus creating a bottle neck down Sunny Road and onto Cambridge Road.

The ‘drop-off zone’ is to be used to ‘drop-off’ your child/ren outside of the school building. It is not to be used for parking up and walking your child/ren into the school premises.

Please remember to park away from the school and walk or cycle whenever possible, it makes a huge difference to the safety of the children coming to and from school and makes the school run a better experience for all.

We will continue with our staff presence outside the school building to remind parents of their parking obligations where required.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping Churchtown children and families safe.

The end of term is approaching and school finishes at 2pm on Friday 14th July. Little Buds after-school club will not be open on this day. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

The Little Buds team wish you all a happy summer break and look forward to seeing you in September. If you would like your child to attend Little Buds in September please can you let the office know what dates you require as soon as possible and before the final week of term.

UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS

Our current Year 2 children will no longer be entitled to free school meals, that have been funded by the Government, once they go into Year 3 in September. Parents will need to use Parent Pay to pay for school lunches, as we operate a cashless cafeteria. A school lunch costs £2.35 per day. Please contact the school office for more information on office@churchtown.org.uk or 01704 508500.

Thank you - The Little Buds Staff Team.

POLITE REMINDER

All holiday requests must be completed prior to a holiday being taken. These forms can be found on the school website, Parent App, or by reception at the front of school. We ask parents/guardians not to take their children out of school during term time as it disrupts their learning. Holidays will only be authorised if the Headteacher believes that there is an exceptional circumstance. The financial implications of going on holiday during term time is not classed as an exceptional circumstance.
