Task A PLAYLIST OF MUST SEE VIDEOS - Just Starting Out? Watch These! BALLET AND THE BRAIN – Watch, observe and make notes as to why Ballet is so important. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjUregOtV_Q) CHOREOGRAPHER – Choose a choreographer that excites you! Do some research and I encourage you to watch as many dance videos/films as you can! You are to then create a PowerPoint presentation – you must include their life, their works, and their methods for creating dance. DANCE DIARY – Begin writing one dance -related quote down each day. Find a sentence that relates to your everyday life and dance. EDUCATE – Create a ‘programme’ to educate someone else on a dance piece, as though it was for the show (you can research and find one that interests you). Here are some examples for you to maybe explore: Rambert Dance, Christopher Bruce, Hofesh Schecter, Blue Boy Entertainment, Wayne McGregor, Matthew Bourne, Itzik Galili, StopGap Dance Company, James Cousins, Jasmin Vardimon) FACT FILE – Choose ONE dance style and create a fact file/poster detailing that style. Can you find a professional dancer within your chosen style and talk about them? What professional works have they featured in? What is their training background? GRADUAL – Choose one 30-day fitness/physical challenge found on the internet to follow and follow it each day for the full 30 days (e.g. core strength, splits, flexibility, running) HEALTH – Create a poster/leaflet to advise someone of a healthy diet. INTERNET – Participate in a NEW online Dance class – Check out Company Chameleon, Motionhouse Dance Theatre Company and Italia Conti’s YouTube Channels for some great dance classes. JAZZ – Learn the ‘Jazz Basics’. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMhw5NXfAdM) KIT (DOS AND DON’TS) – Create a leaflet that advises people of what KIT they may need to keep safe in a Dance lesson, your leaflet must include a list of items not to wear. LIST – Create and document a detailed training programme, in a list, to develop any physical dance skill of your choice for example: strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and/or muscular endurance. (TIP: remember to include where in your body you going to target!)

MUSCLES – Find a blank image of the body and label all the muscles. NEWS – Choreograph a solo/motif based on something in the news, it can be something going on now or something from the past. ORCHESTRAL – Find a piece of ‘Orchestral Music’ that could inspire you to dance and note down why you think this is the case? Can you research any other types of music that can be used when creating a piece of choreography? Can you create some movement to this Orchestral piece of music? POEM – Read ‘Out of the Blue’ poem and write what you think the poem is about. How could you create a piece of choreography from this stimulus?
