Eco Team Messages

Our Eco Team are FULL of ideas! The children have been very busy in school and would like to share some of the things they have done. They would also like to suggest some of the things you can do at home with your family.

The Eco Team have been very busy working on how we can be an eco friendly school. We decided to plant flowers to make our school environment more appealing and welcoming. We planted wildflower seeds on the school field to create a lovely wildflower path for children to enjoy. This area will be a ‘no-mow zone’. This section will be

As a team, we worked collaboratively to make water butts for our school. You can do this at home as well with your family with things that you can find around your home. Here’s how:
You will need:
• an empty milk container (4 or 6 pints works best)
• String
• Scissors
Steps:
1) Rinse out the milk container and remove label.
2) Ask an adult for help and carefully cut off the base of the milk carton.
3) Decorate your carton any way you want!

4) Using string, tie your bottle securely to an outside fence, making sure it is strong enough to hold when it is full of water.
5) Watch your water butt fill up! When it rains, your water butt will fill up with water and you
Lyla Y5:There’s an easy way you can recycle and save the planet litter picking! You could visit your local park or take a walk down your street and as you go, pick up any rubbish you find. Don’t forget to wear gloves and wash your hands afterwards. This helps the environment because the litter picked will no longer end up in oceans and injuring animals. Not only does it help the oceans, but it also helps your community and makes it look neater.

You could make a bug hotel in your garden at home! This is very easy to do! All you need are some logs and sticks and a few leaves. Make a little pile of these objects by layering them together. Make sure you leave holes and gaps for insects to get into. This will attract lots of bugs to live there!
