Monday 22nd February 2021 Dear Families, We are now in Lent, which is a time of preparation for Holy Week when we remember that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to new life. If we were in school without the coronavirus, we would be practising our hymns for the Easter Reflection which would be led by Years 3 and 4. This year, our Lent preparations have to be different. During Lent, Christians try to fast, pray and give more. They focus on trying to become more like Jesus. We fast or give something up to remember that Jesus gave up his life to show us how much he loves us. We can give up a treat we enjoy or we can try to give up a habit which stops us being like Jesus, for example, being grumpy, unkind, impatient. Christians try to give to others more during Lent. This could be giving money to help those in need or it could be giving our time and love to others. We might write a letter to someone, talk to them on the telephone, bake someone a cake. These are all ways to give love to others. Finally, during Lent, Christians spend more time in prayer as they ask God to help them to become more like Jesus. Perhaps you could use the daily prayer link on your blended learning timetable every day.
