Meet the Teacher Information

Routines Start of the Day – gates and doors will open each day from 8:55am ready to start at 9am. At present we ask that you distance yourself from others and where possible just one parent or carer brings them onto the playground. Please stay behind the green line/cones and send your child to line up on the smaller green lines as the teacher is ready to take them in. This may take time for them to get used to, so please don’t worry. The gate will be open earlier for another year group, but please do not enter the playground before 8.55am End of the day – We will bring the children out on to the playground at 3.25pm and hand them over into your care. Again, please wait behind the green line/cones and vacate the playground as soon as you have your child.

P.E P.E will take place every Tuesday morning. Children will need to have a fully named P.E kit in school, which is to stay in school for the half term. At present we have to do all of our PE outside.

Our school PE kit is fine for now and we will just ask for a pair of plain coloured jogging pants/leggings and a hoodie to be brought in as and when the weather gets cooler.

On this day, please can you make sure that all long hair is tied back and earrings are removed. It is also easier for skirts to be worn rather than pinafores on this day.

Reading Books Later this term, children would normally be given reading records and reading books. At present and until further notice these will have to stay in school, but the children will bring home (or be sent electronically via email) reading letter/sound flashcards and words to learn and keep at home. We will set reading homework as the term progresses on our home learning page, through our fortnightly newsletter and using resources such as Education City and Oxford Owl.

Homework Homework will be practical, talk based activities.

You will be able to find details of these on our newsletters and on our home learning page.

The children will also be given phonics based activities to learn or practise and homework related to our topics as and when we cover them.

Later on in the year, they will have developed their writing skills and will bring home news books.

Names on belongings We cannot stress enough the importance of your child’s name being placed on all of their belongings.

This includes all items of uniform such as shoes, pumps, puddle suits, wellies, snack and drinks containers, coats and school bags.

Snack Time Please note that we are a healthy school and we want to promote a healthy diet and lifestyle. We ask that the only snacks that are brought into school are just those consisting of just fruit or vegetables.

Please refrain from sending in any other snacks such as cake bars, biscuits, cheese strings, yoghurts, fruit winders or dippers and so on.

We also ask that just water is sent in for their drink.

Due to serious allergies, we do ask that no nuts or food products containing nuts are brought into school for snacks or in packed lunches.

Milk - children are entitled to free school milk until the term AFTER they turn five. You still need to register for this and details can be found at www.coolmilk.co.uk. You still need to register for this even if your child is entitled to free milk because they are still 4 years old.

School Bags We ask that each child has a school blue book bag.

These bags are easy as names are clearly identifiable and are a suitable size.

If your child needs spare uniform or enjoys learning outside spare uniform can be brought in their blue book bags.

Pencil cases are not needed.

Medicines If your child is taking a prescribed medicine which needs to be administered in school, please complete the appropriate form available from the school office, in order for us to be able to administer it.

Inhalers- if your child needs an inhaler, you will need to fill out a form available from the school office and then the inhaler can be given to their class teacher, with the appropriate spacer for when they need it.

Outdoor Learning Please provide your child with appropriate outdoor wear for the weather.

Outdoor learning happens all year round, so please send in whatever the weather requires, for example, wellies, puddle suits, hats and gloves or sun hats and sun cream.

Tights and socks tend to get wet during the winter months, so please put a spare pair in their book bag.

It is important for all clothing items to be clearly named

Trips and visits We plan to do a number of educational visits and trips over the coming year and will be letting you know nearer the time of the exact costs and further details. We cannot be more specific at this present time due to the current covid situation.

We ask that trips are paid for using the school’s Parent Pay system and will give further details of this nearer the time.
