Newsletter – 5th April 2019
It was lovely to see so many of you at our open afternoon yesterday and the children loved showing you what they have been learning. We have had a busy few weeks, with the Yellow Ducklings performing with amazing confidence in their class assembly, completing our road safety programme and a lovely visit from Blackpool transport with one of their new double decker buses! Once again the Ducklings have shown us how grown-up they all are at being able to cope with a slight change to their home time routine in order to help prepare them for Year 1. Well done!
STARS OF THE WEEK Myles Irving for being an amazing Brown Duckling and we’ll all miss him so much! Kayleigh Millerick for working hard to complete lots of challenges and using her phonics knowledge. Our Learning Our transport topic has come to an end reading Mr Gumpy’s outing. The children have enjoyed retelling the story with puppets and exploring with the boats and waterways outside. They have enjoyed creating and building their own junk model boats and tested them out. We have also read lots of different stories about different mums and enjoyed making our Mother’s Day cards. We hope you liked them? In this last week we have been talking about who celebrates Easter? How and why? The children have enjoyed hunting for eggs outside together and can’t wait to eat the Easter nests that they have made!

What we will be learning next The children will have a nice surprise when they return to school after the Easter holidays! There may be some very small special visitors in our classes on their return, needing their help! They will have to wait and see! A number of children have shown an interest in how things grow and so we will look at our garden and find out who and what lives in it and how they grow and change. We will begin by looking at growing different seeds and plants and how they need to be cared for. We will read different stories and non-fiction books about growing such as The Tiny Seed and Oliver’s Vegetables.
