Newsletter – 16th March 2020 Our News Thank you to all of the parents who attended our Parents’ Evenings. It was lovely to be able to share with you all of the progress the children are making and to share with you their next steps of learning. It’s hard to believe that we are half way through the year already! World book day was enjoyed by all of the children and they particularly enjoyed bringing in their favourite books to share with each other and the older children. We want to encourage the children to keep bringing in their favourite books to share throughout the year. We hope to set up a book swap basket/box in the classroom for children to place books in when they no longer want them and can help themselves to another, encouraging a love of wider reading. We also thought that as we are a healthy school and to promote reading further, that it might be nice if children wanted to donate an old or new book to the class instead of bringing in sweets on their birthday. The children can then share the book together and we can put a label in the front of the book to say who donated it to the class and when as a keepsake. We were also very lucky to be able to enhance our topic about Handa’s Surprise when we were able to Facetime Miss Wilson’s mum who was on holiday in Tanzania. We were able to speak to a Masai guide, Kanaya, who told us all about his life in Africa. The children loved the opportunity to ask him questions too. Thank you to all of the Ducklings for starting your weekly writing at home in your new home-school writing books. It really is a big support and brings the children’s confidence on immensely with their independent writing. Look on the school blog for more information about all of our learning. We will be preparing some Home Learning activities and placing them on the school website in case of a school closure. You can access this at the top of the school website homepage under the heading ‘Home Learning.’ You than click on the ‘Ducklings’ section and then enter the following:
