Newsletter – 15th February 2019
The children have loved the Once Upon A Time topic and it has been lovely to bring the topic to an exciting end this week with our knights and princesses day. The children looked amazing in their costumes. Thank you for providing them. They enjoyed medieval dancing, going to knight school, baking cakes and sword themed snacks for a banquet, investigating making the best catapults and we finished the day off with a jousting tournament!
STARS OF THE WEEK Isabelle Roughley for super confidence in all of her learning and Freddie Falconer for all of his enthusiasm in learning all about our topic of knights and castles
Our Learning The children’s interests have led us to our new topic ‘Terrific Transport.’ We will be reading lots of different transport themed stories and finding out facts and information from non-fiction books. The children will help to create our new role play areas – a car wash, an aeroplane and a garage! During the second week back after half-term we will celebrate Shrove Tuesday by making our own pancakes and creating our own healthy toppings.
Reminders BLOG Have a look together at the blog on the school website to find out more about learning in school each day. A homework activity could be to think of a comment together and for the grown up to add it for you! Spare Clothes Please can any clothes borrowed from school be returned once washed? If you are having a clear out at home we are always in need of spare socks and underwear. It is also very useful during the winter months to put spare socks or tights in their book bags. All About Me Booklets Please can any outstanding booklets be returned to school? Your views as parents and carers are very important to us and it maybe that children excel in a particular area of learning or have a particular interest at home and this can help us when we assess what the children can and cannot do. Thank you. Transport Photographs It would be lovely to make a display of different types of transport that you have travelled on or seen. Maybe take some photographs while you are out and about this half-term! The more unusual, the better! Healthy School We are a healthy school and want to promote healthy eating. Please can we ensure that children who bring a packed lunch from home have a healthy balance of foods within them? Thank you for your help with this. Little Chicks Please can you encourage your child to find their own register chick and to sort their own coats and bags each session? Some of the younger children are also finding putting their own shoes on quite tricky. It might be helpful
