Half Term 3 Curriculum Plan War fiction- creative reading and writing Students will read a range of fiction and non-fiction texts, all linked though the theme of war.

This will lead to students writing their own pieces of war-inspired writing with plenty of opportunities to work on spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Poetry study Students will read and analyse a wide range of poetry across different genres, styles and time periods, allowing some opportunities to create their own poems.

Non-fiction reading & writing Students will read a wide range of non- fiction texts about different conflicts through time.

These texts will provide inspiration for students’ own writing of letters, speeches and essays.

GCSE English Literature- AQA Poetry anthology Students will study a range of poetry from the 18th century to present day all within the theme of ‘power and conflict’.

GCSE English Language-Creative writing Students will develop their descriptive and narrative writing skills.

GCSE English Literature- Revision of poetry & ‘An Inspector Calls’ Students will focus on exam practice and skills for these two set texts.

GCSE English Language- Paper 1 Revision Students will revise their ability to analyse and evaluate fiction texts.

Students will be introduced to the artist Yayoi Kusama and her rather exuberant nature. They will learn to be playful with shape, pattern and colour in the style of Yayoi and in turn find ways to explore and embrace imagination and build confidence within their Art practice.

Graphics Students will look closely at the art of ‘Graffiti’ and learn the controversial nature of Graffiti within the Art world and society in general. They will be introduced to a case study of Graffiti in Protest and to the artist Banksy, delving into the rationale and meaning behind this rather topical/political subgenre.

Portraiture Students will focus on the human skeletal/skull structure, producing observational studies.

They will be introduced to various techniques focusing predominantly on facial features.

Component 1 -Portfolio Students will focus predominantly on producing contextual studies, imaginatively exploring the given artists whilst trialling various materials, techniques/processes.

Component 1 -Portfolio Students will develop their ideas through researching their own artists, producing selfdirected/ explorative photoshoots enabling them to derive their own personalised responses to the given theme. Half Term 3 Curriculum Plan Students will study the food provenance of English Foods, such as Fish and Chips and Shepherd’s Pie. They will be encouraged to have a go at basic cooking skills in the home such as mixing, blending and cutting. Students will be encouraged to consider flavours, tastes and textures to develop creativity Students will be encouraged to develop basic cooking skills in the safety of their own home.

This will involve watching skills clips to cut fruits and vegetables to create basic food dishes such as Minestrone Soup.

Theory: Eggs Covering all the aspects of Nutrition, dietary considerations, food provenance, food hygiene & safety. Students will be using a pre-prepared workbook. Students are given an opportunity to make dishes with eggs to show the functionality. If not cooking students will watch a video and answer questions.

Half Term 3 Curriculum Plan Students will continue to complete their first controlled assessment on Digital Graphics. To begin with pupils will complete practical skills based tasks on graphics software. Once all the skills have been learnt the pupils will complete LO3 and LO4 of the set assignment.

Students will be focusing on the controlled assessment unit R087. This unit asks the students to produce a multimedia product to a brief set by the exam board. Students will learn new skills on a software which will help them to create their own websites and then use these skills to complete tasks LO3 and LO4 of the controlled assessment brief.
