Work Expectations

In every subject area, the content and the delivery of the curriculum has been thoroughly considered and adapted for remote learning, so students maximise their learning and progress. Topics may be revised to maximise retrieval and retention and new content will be introduced with adapted resources and support.

All work set will be posted daily on ClassCharts by the class teacher, following students' current timetable in most lessons. Y7 and Y8 will follow a modified timetable for carousel subjects only. This will include the instructions and resources. Students may be given a Google Classroom code to access lesson materials, work and assignments. Students will also have a weekly face to face session with a member of staff via Google Meet.

The remote education provided will be equivalent in length to the core teaching students would receive in school – 5 hours. It will consist of remote learning using a range of materials and resources and time for students to complete tasks and assignments independently. There will also be optional extra reading and watch lists signposted for students on the website.

Lesson Delivery

Lesson Resources

Lessons will be delivered using a range of tools and materials that will be shared with students. Students are expected to access the videos, texts or other resources provided in order to learn content, practise skills and retain knowledge. Provision of high quality and relevant materials will enable students to learn and progress.

Remote Learning

Subjects use a range of different resources. Through Google Classroom and their related products students can access a variety of tasks via a web browser to complete. Subject specific platforms are used such as: Educake, Seneca Learning and Mathswatch. The lessons may also include pre-recorded lessons by Oak Academy or Greenshaw Learning Trust as well as videos recorded by our teachers.

SEND Provision

Some lessons or parts of lessons will be prerecorded and sent to students to introduce a topic or lesson, to deliver explanations or instructions, to clear misconception or give feedback and to model work or answers. Teachers may use voice recording over PowerPoint or Loom videos as well as modelling work through visualisers.

Teachers will be available to support learning. Students may choose to contact them via the Google chat function asking work specific questions that teachers will endeavour to answer. Teachers may also open dialogue via individual feedback on Google Classroom. All students have a personal mentor and have weekly mentor sessions, held over Google Meet to discuss wellbeing, support their remote learning and any specific issues.

Teachers will plan and deliver the learning for all students through the use of explicit step-by-step instructions, scaffolded tasks, providing clear examples as well as offering any support needed. Resources and materials will be adapted to maximise the learning of all students.
