Year 8

Half Term 2 Curriculum Plan Freedom and Identity: Students will study a broad anthology of poems written linked to the themes of freedom and identity, as well as developing their appreciation of poetry. Students will also develop their reading and analytical skills. Is Prejudice Inevitable? Students will develop their letter writing skills through the lens of prejudice. They will continue to develop their understanding of rhetoric, as well as their drafting and editing skills.

Year 9

Dystopian fiction Students will read and analyse a range of fiction from the dystopia genre. This will then lead to them writing their own dystopian narratives and descriptions.

Year 10

GCSE English Literature- AQA DR Jekyll & Mr Hyde Students will read and study the 19 th century component of their exam. Power and conflict poetry (cluster 1) Students will study a range of poetry from the 18th century to present day.

Year 11

GCSE English Literature- Paper 1 Revision Students will focus on exam practice and skills, completing responses based on ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde’.

Half Term 2 Curriculum Plan Cells and Organisms: The building blocks of life and specialised cells with a focus on the skeletal, respiratory, circulatory and digestive systems Energy: Energy stores and transfers including renewable and non-renewable energy. A look at heat transfer through conduction, convection and radiation to complete the first Physics module Pressure and Motion: This is a mixed module covering pressure in solids, liquids and gases as well as the principles of levers. Students then study speeddistance-time graphs and acceleration Ecology and Inheritance Students study the ecosystem around them and the interdependence of organisms including predators and prey. Producers and energy flow through food chains including toxic food webs follow on. This module also introduces
