Children will use repeating texts to support their reading of books. Children will use vocabulary and forms of speech that are increasingly influenced by their experiences of books.
Read stories with a transport theme. Learn how to cross the road safely. Use a variety of materials and shapes to make vehicles. Discover what makes a toy car move faster or slower. Bus, plane and car role play areas.
Art and Design
Children use some clearly identifiable letters to communicate meaning, representing some sounds correctly and in sequence. Children will write simple descriptions of and labels for models they have made. Children will use speech bubbles to show how characters in stories speak. Children attempt to write short sentences in meaningful contexts to create their own short stories non fiction texts.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Children will accompany their singing with percussion instruments. KEY QUESTIONS How does it go? What jobs are there? What shape are you using?

Children will use mathematical names for ‘solid’ 3D shapes and ‘flat’ 2D shapes, and mathematical terms to describe them. They will select a particular named shape s to make their models. Children will begin to use numbers to show who is first, second or last in a race.

Children will think about the jobs that people do within transport.
