Dear Parents/Carers, Well it’s the end of another calendar year at Bishop Martin and what a year! There has been so much to celebrate and be proud of! I took over the school as Headteacher at Easter and it only feels like yesterday, even though we have achieved so much! Amazing academic results at the end of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in the Summer, putting us once again above the National Average for standards, have shown clearly the quality of education here. We have said sad goodbyes to staff members and welcomed new ones in September who already have embraced all the things that make Bishop Martin a truly special place to work and learn. I would like to offer a HUGE thanks for all your support towards the fundraising that has taken place over this term. We have raised £2155.15 through all the different activities this term. This money is put to good use, paying for and subsidising curriculum enrichment visits (eg: the professional performances of ‘Puss in Boots’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’ the pupils enjoyed as an end of term treat earlier this week) as well as subsidising coach travel to educational sites etc. I will continue to publish full details at the end of each academic year of how monies raised through your support have been used to enhance your children’s experiences at Bishop Martin. We would love to grow the number of followers of the school so if you are a ‘tweeter’ then please sign up to us! Also, if you haven’t yet signed up to our Parent App, please see the school office and they will be than happy to guide you. Can I also take the opportunity to remind parents/carers of the school uniform code (which is available to everyone, on request through the main office and on the school website). The change in uniform (and the level of financial support/subsidy offered through the ‘buy two, get the cheapest one free’ offer that is in place until Summer 2019) has been met with overwhelming positivity and I have even had comments from other schools on how smart and aspirational the children look! All that is left to do on behalf of all the staff here at Bishop Martin is for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you and your family have a joyful and restful Christmas period and I will see you all back at school, safe and sound, on Monday 7th January 2019!
