Headteacher Update Friday 24th March 2023 Dear Parents/Carers
Easter Egg Competition An email went out on Wednesday about an exciting (or eggs-citing!!) competition that School Council have organised. Details of the egg decorating competition are on that email and can also be found here on the school website: https://www.bishopmartin.lancs.sch.uk/events/2023-03-30-easter-egg-competition Any entries must be brought into school by Thursday 30th March. School Attendance and Punctuality Communication It is an expectation that ALL schools report attendance levels of pupils to their parents. The Government recommended level for acceptable school attendance is 96%. At Bishop Martin we report attendance levels to parents if their child’s attendance drops BELOW 90% at the start of each term. This will always be treated in the strictest confidence and always be through direct communication (e-mail) between school and home. Keeping you informed about your child’s attendance levels is a crucial part of our partnership in working together to ensure the best possible education for your children. It should not be seen as something negative or judgemental, but rather as extra information so you can keep up to date on your child’s schooling. In the week following Easter we will be emailing parents to inform you of your child’s attendance over the Spring Term. In SOME cases (but not all), school will be following up on these emails with families and inviting them in for an attendance meeting. This will NOT be for all children whose attendance was below 90% where we can see clear, unavoidable reasons for them not being in school. These meetings will be for reasons such as:
there has been no communication/explanation about the absence there are patterns of absence we need to discuss with you
