Autumn Term 1 - 23rd October 2020

Follow us on Twitter @SkemBishopM and check out our website www.bishopmartin.lancs.sch.uk for lots more! Dear Parents/Carers, What a half-term we have had at Bishop Martin (it almost feels like a whole school year not just 8 weeks!). We successfully welcomed all pupils back in September (under new social distancing measures) and the children have been just brilliant in getting used to the new routines and expectations. We have had to isolate five bubbles at different times this half-term (Nursery, Reception (Butterflies), Year 1 (Rabbits), Year 1/2 (Hedgehogs) and Year 6 (Lions) due to positive test results for COVID-19 in school. This highlights the need for ALL of us to follow the guidelines from Public Health England to reduce the risk of further isolation periods for Bubbles after half-term. Lancashire is now in Tier 3 of the Government’s risk rating system and therefore there are heightened restrictions we are all expected to follow. You can find that guidance here: https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/news/details/?Id=PR20/0300

I want to keep ALL pupils in school during term time. However, positive test results will, for the foreseeable future at least, lead to the closure and isolation of classes for 14 days (from the point of last contact with the individual who has tested Positive) and we all need to keep working together to reduce the risk of this happening.

Swimming lessons for Year 5 (Tigers), resume on Monday 2nd November in a COVID secure way . For more information, please refer to the email sent out on Tuesday 20th October

We are pleased to announce that Samantha Tilley has been elected onto the Governing Body of Bishop Martin CE Primary School The term of office is four years.

The following classes are currently isolating and are required to stay isolated (by staying in their homes) until: Nursery: Tuesday 3/11/20

Return Wed 04/11/20

(Some pupils may return Mon 2/11/20 and they have been informed)

Reception (Butterflies): Friday 23/10/20 Return Mon 02/11/20 Year 1 (Rabbits): Monday 26/10/20

Return Mon 02/11/20

Yea1/2 (Hedgehogs): Tuesday 03/11/20 Return Wed 04/11/20 Year 6 (Lions) Friday 23/10/10

Return Mon 02/11/20

This half-term has been incredibly challenging for everyone connected to the school and I understand the impact class closures and isolation has on families. As a school we are always here to support you in any way we can and on behalf of the school team I’d like to thank you for your amazing support. Have a safe and restful half-term.

Mr Ian McDonald Headteacher
