Expressive Arts and Design: Explores colour and how colours can be changed. Uses available resources to create props to support role-play.

Understanding the World: Shows interest in the lives of people who are familiar to them. Shows interest in different occupations and ways of life.

Creates movement in response to music. Manipulates materials to achieve a planned effect.

Shows care and concern for living things and the environment. Recognises and describes special times or events for family or friends.

Communication and Language: Children will build up vocabulary focused on objects and people that are of particular importance to them. They will use talk in pretending that objects stand for something else in play in areas such as themed role play area e.g. hospital and shop etc. Introduces a storyline or narrative in their play.

Mini theme: Pop, Whizz and Fizz! Children will explore rhyme through the poem Remember, Remember and continue a rhyming string when describing fireworks. Children will make firework pictures and explore what happens when they mix colours together. Children will listen to a simple version of the story Guy Fawkes.

Key Questions: What happened next? Why is it important to help others? How can we help others? What job would you like to do when you’re older?
