Headteacher Update 05/06/20 Dear Parents/Carers, Introduction I hope you and your children are all keeping well. Thank you for the messages I have received from many of you telling me how useful you have found these updates and I will continue to provide them until such time as we are able to welcome ALL our amazing pupils back at school! Home learning Update The teachers have been busy working updating their class pages with Summer 2 Content so please make sure you are checking the schools website regularly:  

Age-specific Learning Content is available through your child’s Class Page: https://www.bishopmartin.lancs.sch.uk/class-pages-2019-2020 The ‘Home Learning’ section continues to provide a wealth of learning content/ideas for you to access with your children: https://www.bishopmartin.lancs.sch.uk/parents/home-learning The school Twitter feed (@SkemBishopM) is also updated (almost!) daily with links to amazing virtual external learning experiences (such as the World Record Breaking Art lesson that so many of you took part in; I loved looking at the amazing artwork the children all produced!)

I enjoy looking at all the online platforms and subscriptions we have bought into for the pupils to access (e.g.: Bug Club, Numbots, Times Table Rockstars, IDL etc.). It gives me a chance to see just how much and how often the pupils are accessing this learning content. If you receive an e-mail from school reminding you that your child hasn’t logged on or accessed any online content recently this isn’t school criticising or suggesting that you aren’t doing anything with your child. It is simply a way of keeping in touch as I know and recognise that so many parents have been doing their own activities and learning with their children. I really enjoy reading your replies and this is why we set up the ‘Home Learning Gallery’ on the website as we love seeing pictures of what the pupils have been doing. ‘Re-opening’ update This week I received the following information from the Local Authority: ‘Last week Dr Sakthi Karunanithi, our Director of Public Health (in Lancashire), advised schools and other early years settings that it was not yet safe in Lancashire to reopen to more children from Monday 1 June.
