Learning Project

This half term’s project is ‘Our Local Area’. We will be looking at maps of our local area, making our own maps and studying features of our local area.

It would also be helpful for the children to learn the street name that they live on and maybe take notice of the streets that they travel on to get to school.

We will be identifying different types of housing in the local area. For this lesson it would really help your child to have a photo of their house. These can be sent in via Dojo.

Please watch out on Dojo for more information about this project.

Each class will initially have 1 PE lesson every week. It is useful to have PE kits in school all week.

1BC: Wednesday

1E: Monday

1G: Friday

P.E. Kit needed: White T-Shirt, Black Shorts, Pumps/ Trainers

Earrings should not be worn on P.E. days.

At Badsley, Reading for Pleasure is a top priority. We aim to create life-long readers. Children need to learn how to read so we send books home that help children with this but we also send home books that children show an interest in. These are our Golden Sticker books. We encourage children to read often.

It really helps us to find out what books the children enjoy reading at home too. This can be communicated in the children’s reading diaries and through Class Dojo.

Look out for more information on Dojo!

This half term’s Project Puzzle:

We use these sites in school to help us with learning. Your child will bring home login details so that they can use them at home too.

Links to learning resources are also regularly posted on Dojo and sometimes printed activities are sent home. Completing these tasks, though optional, will support your child with their learning.

In year 1, phonics is so important. It is one of the main first skills in reading as it helps children to decode the text that they are reading.

Near the end of the year, the children will take part in the Year 1 Phonics Screen. Please watch out for more information about this during the year.

We will also be posting helpful phonics resources on Dojo to help your child practise the skills they are learning in class.

Please could you let your child’s teacher know if somebody different will be picking up your child at home time.

Any 'lost' items can always become 'found' when they have names in. This helps them to be returned to you swiftly. Please put your child’s name in anything that they bring from home!
