Home Learning Pack for Year 1 Week 11 Hello Year 1, I hope you are all well and you are enjoying your home learning. I would encourage everyone to do the English and Maths learning for the next few weeks to complete our summer term. If the weather improves I hope you get some time to go outside and ride your bikes and scooters. Write in complete sentences using capital letters and full stops.

Use appropriate spelling (use phonic clues to write unfamiliar words)

Day 1 : Recall the story using the pictures, if you have printed copies you might like to sequence the story. http://www.lovemybooks.co.uk/naughty-bus (Story read by a teacher) Or if you have power point see the additional materials week 9.

Enjoy listening and talk about the story.

Day 2: Identify words to describe how the bus moved Think about words ending in ed Eg: rushed skidded raced crawled moved pushed pulled ambled sped Day 3 Sentences : children to use the words from day 2 and the additional words on the sheet to make sentences.

Eg The naughty bus rushed under the bridge. (read through the sentences to check they make sense.)

Day 4 Write simple sentences to explain what might happen to the bus as it reaches the pond?

If you have made a bus or have a toy bus available, you might like to think about making the story around your house. Take the bus for a ride around your house (or garden) and label the places it goes.

Think about and say the sentence. The bus is racing through the grass.

When we write sentences it’s important that we say them to check that they make sense. The children should be familiar with my phrase: THINK IT, SAY IT, WRITE IT (writing is more than putting pencil to paper)

Can you make a Kandinsky inspired picture. You could colour, paint or collage to create your picture. You may want to listen to some music and paint along – see what music would inspire you to paint.

Set time aside each day to read and enjoy the reading games on Reading Buddy. Why not create your own reading den at home, make it cosy with toys and cushions and read for pleasure.
