ALPSIT BULLETIN Improving Our Schools Together

We have plenty to update you on.

There's some great opportunities for our schools so make sure to take it all in.

Please be aware of the time sensitive aspects of the information included in this bulletin.

Klare has sent out an email this week in regard to asking your Deputy's to volunteer themselves to help us in setting up a Deputy's Support Network. We're still looking for volunteers in the following areas Halton, Liverpool, Wigan and Warrington. Please email Klare if you can nominate someone willing.

54 FREE PLACES TO GIVE AWAY FOR DOTART SCHOOLS 2021! dot-art Schools is an interactive, online, interschool, art competition, taking place annually and culminating in a public exhibition of the winning artworks and prize giving celebration for teachers, students and their families.

The competition is open to all Primary (Year 5) and SEND schools in the six boroughs of Liverpool City Region and beyond. It is designed to nurture talent, raise aspiration and take art out of the classroom into the real world.

Set up in 2012 in response to demand from local schools and the side-lining of the arts in the curriculum, to date over 8000 children from 481 schools have taken part.

To find out more about the giveaway and to enter, schools need to email schools@dot-art.com with GIVEAWAY in the subject title. But hurry, its first come, first served and schools need to sign up before 17th December 2020!

Would you describe your school or local community as being areas of high conflict? Do children need support with dealing with conflict, restorative actions and regulating their emotions?

We have been offered a fantastic opportunity for 6 schools across the Archdiocese to work closely with the Warrington peace centre on a programme covering all staff trauma awareness training, key stages 1 and 2 programmes for children, family and staff support and a bespoke year 6 programme for children in year 6 experiencing challenges at the moment.

Great opportunites, savings, and support available to ALPSIT schools.

TeachingLive.Net is a sequence of 10 LIVE weekly interactive KS2 creative writing lessons (with follow up activities) created and delivered by Pie Corbett, Deputy Mitchell and John Sutton. This sequence of LIVE lessons harnesses the latest blogging technology to give all of your participating students a truly global audience.

TeachingLive.Net brings together live teaching and modelling with children participating and getting immediate feedback. The focus is on the development of writing for pleasure, building the imagination and teaching the craft of writing so that over time, through the sequence of our lessons, children improve. As long as your students are working with an adult, your students can access these sessions either working 1:1, a small group, or even a full class.

Each lesson will be delivered LIVE through Zoom and all resources and teacher notes will be provided through this site. The extra special feature TeachingLive offers is, the students submit their writing as blog posts without even having to sign in. Our team will read, check and approve these blog posts with the students not only receiving comments from people across the globe, but they will be taught how to leave quality peer feedback themselves.

The new term begins late January and the sessions will be LIVE on Thursdays at 1:30pm.

We do all the teaching via Zoom, the children just need to watch the lesson at the front of their class whilst accessing all the interactive resources on our site.

Not only is it great for your pupils, but it is amazing CPD for your teachers. Included in each week’s sessions are comprehensive teaching notes written by Pie Corbett.

Pearson has been selected as an approved provider for the National Tutoring Programme which was developed to support schools in responding to the immediate challenge of school closures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to the high level of interest in the Pearson Tutoring Programme, they will be running two regional webinars for schools in the North West and West Yorkshire in early December. These webinars will be around 30 mins and provide you with an introduction to the programme and an opportunity for you to ask questions.
