In this session, Jonathan will explore the building blocks of innovative curriculum design: from the rigorous sequencing of knowledge, to the development of a concept-based learning approach rich in authentic experiences. Drawing on his ground-breaking work as an inner-city primary school teacher, Jonathan will examine how to create the conditions needed for children to grow into empowered, knowledgeable and creative thinkers who are driven by insatiable curiosity.

Ed Southall is the the maths specialist for both secondary and primary PGCEs at the University of Huddersfield.

How to enhance teacher subject knowledge and enthusiasm towards mathematics.

Ed will discuss the notion of depth in mathematics, why the answers are less important than we might think, and how to dispel maths anxiety and generate a genuine love of mathematics amongst teachers and children alike.

MFL School Improvement Officer. Jane has worked as part of the MFL team at school Improvement since 2004. Since 2016 she has headed up the team of 3 Advisory teachers and 22 Foreign Language Tutors

This session aims to inspire MFL subject leads to lead language learning successfully in their school. We will provide practical advice on how to raise the profile of MFL and create an environment where language learning Is enjoyable, valued and effective.

CHRIS TREVOR - GEOGRAPHY - 14:30 - 15:30 WWW.CHRISTREVOR.CO.UK Chris Trevor is a Geography Graduate with a real passion for taking the fear out of Fieldwork to make Geography come alive for our children.

How to inspire others to teach great Geography.

Exciting ways to engage colleagues and children in teaching and learning Geography, whilst still meeting the rigour, challenge and high level outcomes of the Geography National Curriculum.

Chris will share stunning stories, wonderful websites and show how to make the most of magnificent maps to develop a carefully worked out progression for high-quality geography which will "inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives." She will help subject leaders and curriculum leads, build vocabulary and concepts, knowledge and skills, in simple manageable methods and take away the fear of fieldwork in your school. The result will be that children really understand the interaction of human and physical processes around us. Geography is our world and our future - we need our children (and teachers) to engage with their local environment and see how they can make a real difference to our world in the years ahead.

This session will look at his own journey from enthusiast to subject lead, encouraging and supporting colleagues and giving an insight into how other subjects can provide ways into computing teaching for specialist and non-specialist teachers.

Jimmy Rotheram shares his inclusive pedagogy which made Feversham famous across the world. It is an approached which is based on learning through play, singing, movement and games, and inspired by work of Kodรกly and Dalcroze. Here he shares a wide range of songs and games in a practical session for practitioners to take away. The workshop will also cover inclusive pedagogy, behaviour management, sequencing and planning, reading music, listening activities, singing technique, and more! Resources tailored to the Covid-restricted classroom, where singing and movement may be limited, will also be shared for your use.
