OSWALD’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL LOVE JESUS LOVE LEARNING LOVE EACH OTHER “We are a learning community promoting the Gospel values of mutual trust, care and respect” NEWSLETTER WEEK ENDING 18th MAY 2018 WEDNESDAY WORD - PEACE Y6 PUPILS - have completed their SATs this week. We have praised the pupils for their great attitude and effort. There are lots of enjoyable events ahead, Lets Sing, transition days at St Edmund Arrowsmith, an end of year performance, Sandcastle visit as well as their usual lessons continuing until the end of term. Today, they have celebrated by having a fun day to end the week and wearing their PJs. BBC PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA - Class 9 visited Media City at Salford Quays on Tuesday afternoon to experience the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra playing pieces from the BBC 10 Pieces for Primary Schools Concert. They learned about the composition of the orchestra and the stories behind the pieces they played. SPONSORED EVENT - We did it!!!!! Well done to all the children and staff who have collectively run from John O’ Groats to Land’s End during Thursday and Friday this week - there are some fabulous photos of the children enjoying the event on twitter and flickr! Sponsor money needs to be in by next Friday 25 th May. The classes who will take part in the Wet Sponge Challenge will be announced during the first week back after half-term. Thank you for your support. STREETDANCE - Libby Rutherford, Grace Ewing, Ella Graham, Charlotte Dunne, Eve Brearton, Mischa Abbot, Charlotte Trickett and Phoebe Colquitt participated in a street dance competition in Knowsley on Sunday 13 th May and came 2nd. Well done! SCHOOL SHOES - a polite reminder that school uniform is black sensible shoes, not trainers. Children can bring trainers to wear at playtime if they wish. SNACKS - School policy is that playtime snacks are fruit or toast only - please do not send in anything other than this. Thank you. DEACON PAUL - visited school today to celebrate the Royal Wedding with the children. He joined in the fun and wore red, white and blue to fit in with the theme for the day. The children have enjoyed making crowns, designing Royal Wedding menus and other activities based around the wedding today. There are pictures and video clips on twitter, flickr and the website. KITCHEN - We have had a problem with our main oven today which has meant that we couldn’t provide the menu as advertised - children have had sandwiches and chips along with the usual choice of desserts and drinks.
