THIS WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we have been celebrating the end of topic on Good News and held a Collective Worship to show our learning. Within Literacy, we continued to use the story of Giraffes can’t dance. The children used the story map from last week to retell the story in their own words. In Maths, we started our new topic of doubling and halving where the children learned how to double a number and solve problems related to doubling. During the afternoon, we made Diwali lamps using clay and created our own Rangoli patterns. During our phonics sessions we have focussed on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – have been introduced to air and ure and have continued to recapped all phase 3 words Mrs Riding’s group – have been introduced air and ure and the words – so, do and have. Mrs Ryan’s group – have been introduced to air and ear and the words – said and have Miss Woolley’s group – have been recapping ai and ee and looked at oo and have recapped phase 3 words and introduced they. NEXT WEEK– During our Come and See sessions we will be learning about Hinduism. Within Literacy, we will be reading the book Doing the Animal Bop. The children will be writing sentences about the story. In Maths, we will be looking at halving and sharing numbers and solving problems related to this. During the afternoon, we will be continuing to make our models of animals following our designs. During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on: Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – will be recapping phase 3 sounds and starting phase 4 and will be introducing so, do and have Mrs Riding’s group - will be introduced to phase 4 and the words – one and were. Mrs Ryan’s group – will be introduced to ure and the words – so, do and have. Miss Woolley’s group – will be introduced to igh and will be recapping all phase 3 words. WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Thank you for all the handwriting sheets. This week we are asking you to find out information about Hinduism and Diwali. Please send in any information to school so that we can share this with the children next week. CHESTER ZOO VISIT – We have sent out more letters to the children who still have not sent in their contribution for the trip. Please try and send this in as soon as possible. EMPTY BOXES AND POTS – We are running low on our found materials. Please could you send in any empty boxes, yoghurt pots, bottle tops, egg boxes etc so that the children can continue to make their models. SEE SAW – Thank you to parents who have already made comments on their child’s profiles. Please continue to add observations of your children that you see happening at home. Tag your message onto a recent observation sent to you by the teacher.
