St. John’s RC Primary School WEEKLY UPDATE DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May I take this opportunity to wish all of the families and friends of St John’s a Happy New Year. I hope that 2018 is full of hope, joy and happiness both in school and in your family lives. It was lovely to see the children coming into school this morning full of the exciting things they got up to over Christmas.

STAFF UPDATE Congratulations go to Miss Smith as she was married over the Christmas holiday!

We wish her, and her new husband Nick, much happiness and she will return to school as Mrs Speak.

In other happy news, Mr Sheehan’s wife gave birth to a little baby son, Sean Patrick last Saturday. Congratulations to the whole family!

Mr Cantillon left St.John’s at Christmas. He has gone to Cambodia on a new adventure and to pursue further studies in IT. We would all like to thank him for all his hard work, particularly on the school website.

ATTENDANCE A reminder that parents/carers should inform the school if their child is going to be absent. Please call the office before 10am and leave a message on the answerphone.The school is not permitted to grant any leave of absence during term unless there are exceptional circumstances. (Holiday leave would not be considered an exceptional circumstance.) In those cases where permission is not granted, your child will be considered absent without authorisation.

We have an exciting half-term ahead with our MP visiting this Friday, Year 6’s residential to Robinwood and the Young Voices concert at the Manchester Arena. A full dates list for this term will be sent out with Friday’s weekly update. PTA

The PTA are having their Spring term meeting on the 18th January 2018 at 8pm in the Irish centre. They are always looking for new people to come and get involved!

The ‘Social Climbers’ disco night is taking place on Saturday, 20th January. The proceeds from this event will go towards buying new equipment for the children to use outside at playtimes and lunchtimes . The tickets are available outside the junior hall before school. SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME

There is a meeting for the parents of those making their First Holy Communion in the Summer on the 28th January at 10.45am in the St. John’s Parish Centre. We are still waiting for Fr. McMahon to finalise the First Holy Communion dates and will let parents have them as soon as we have them confirmed.
