Friday 19th January Wednesday Word – COMMUNITY THIS WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we have thought about how our Parish Family celebrate together at church. We have talked about what happens at a Mass and have looked at what we may see when we are in church. Within Literacy, we have been acting out and retelling the story of the rainbow fish in our own words. During our heads down activity, we have been writing the story of the Rainbow fish in our own words. In Maths, we have used the language of sides and vertices to describe 2D shapes. During the afternoon sessions, we have found out about the different creatures that live in the ocean with the rainbow fish and the features of these. The children have also enjoyed sewing and decorating their own rainbow fish. During our phonics sessions our focusses were Mrs Gills and Mrs Harts group – w, x, and the words can, back, off, he, me, be, we. Miss Woolley’s group – h, r and have gone over and, I, go, no, to, the, and have introduced as. Mrs Ryan and Mrs Ridings groups – w, x and the words he, me, be, we. NEXT WEEK– During our Come and See sessions we will be listening to and working with the story of The Visit to the Temple. Within Literacy, we will are using the story of - The fish who could wish and then writing sentences related to the story within our heads down activity. In Maths, we will be completing our Post learning task on 2D shape and seeing if the children can use the language of sides and vertices independently when describing 2D shapes. During the afternoon sessions, we will be finding out about the environment in which they live. The children will use this knowledge to work with their group to create a 3D underwater seascape. During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on Mrs Gills and Mrs Harts group – y, z, zz, qu and the words he, me, be, we, she. Miss Woolley’s group – b, and have will go over I, go, not, to, the, as and introduce at Mrs Ryan and Mrs Ridings groups – y, z, zz, qu and the words he, me, be, we, she. WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Thank you for all your examples of 3D and 2D shapes. The children have remembered a lot about these shapes and have been able to name and describe the 2D shape using the correct language. This week we are asking the children to complete the handwriting sheet. Ensure that the children are starting the letters in the correct place and are sitting the letters on the line. TEMPEST PHOTOGRAPHER – A photographer will be coming into school on Monday 29th January to take a group photograph of the two reception classes together. Please ensure that your child comes into to school with the correct uniform for this day. INSPIRE SESSIONS FOR THE SPRING TERM – We will be holding two more INSPIRE session over this term where you will be able to come into school and work with your child on a variety of different activities. We hope that you or a representative can attend these sessions.
