NEWSLETTER WEEK ENDING 19th JANUARY 2018 WEDNESDAY WORD - COMMUNITY YEAR 4 ASSEMBLY - took place this morning. The theme of the assembly was Reconciliation. Well done to the pupils and thank you to all the visitors who attended. YEAR 5 ASSEMBLY - is next Friday 26th January in the School Hall at 9.10am. All family and friends are welcome. LIVERPOOL METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL - St. Oswald’s took part in the Epiphany Service at the Cathedral last Friday afternoon and were represented by some pupils dressed as characters from the Nativity. Thank you to all who took part. Emma Williams, Leah Mullins, Harry Tuszynski, Orren Ridings, Macaulay Jones, Cody LyonsAshworth, Nathaniel Maddock and Thomas Earley. CHRISTMAS DISCOS - many thanks to the parents who organised and ran the refreshments, tuck shop and competitions at the discos. They were a huge success and £402.75 was raised for our school fund. The money will be used for the benefit of the pupils. SCHOOL GAMES MARK PRESENTATION - We have been awarded a silver games mark for our commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive sport. St. Oswald’s was represented at the awards ceremony by Sky Davies, Tonis Tomkus, Mrs Grindley and Mr Osborne. WIGAN YOUTH ZONE - Well done to Holly Caulwell-Green, Johnson Lyons-Ashworth, Alisha Chadwick and Alex Ball who represented St. Oswald’s at the Youth Zone on Wednesday. They took part in lots of activities and have all been awarded certificates today by our local MP Mrs Yvonne Fovargue. YVONNE FOVARGUE - visited school today at our invitation to speak to staff and pupils. She has asked our pupils to tell her about any ideas they have for improvements to the local area or about any concerns they have. Pupils who write to her will receive a letter back from the House of Commons. READING FOLDERS - Please note that folders should be returned to school every Monday regardless of whether your child has finished reading their book or not. Teachers need to monitor reading diaries and speak to the children about their book. AWARDS - Bella Potter, Mollie Turner, Alexa Aidley-Dugdale, William Verinder, Alex McKenzie, Elizabeth Lucas, Koby Heaton, Lilly-Mae Valentine, Holly Nolan, Ethan Critchley, Oscar Bassey, Kieran Winder, Claudia Beaney, Lewis Harley, Karl Marshall, Cody Lyons-Ashworth, Maya Darcy, Zack Verinder, Matthew Bennett, Annie Fletcher, Harry Stephens, Charlotte Kay, Ellie Dallimore and Sam Lloyd.
